Our very own Weather Guys, Karl Loeper from the AM 640 WVLG Weather Center, and Bob Collins, meteorologist, will present a Severe Weather Safety Seminar at St. Mark. Bring your sense of humor as Bob and Karl have some amusing ways to help you remember what you need to know. Karl will cover Hurricanes, while Bob will address the dangers associated with Tornadoes, Hail, Flash Floods and Lightning. Can you spare 60 to 90 minutes to learn the dos and don’ts that could save your life? A question and answer session will be held after the presentations.
This Seminar will be held in the St. Mark Hall. Admission is $5.00 per person. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soda will be available. General Admission (no assigned seating). Tickets may be purchased online at www.stmarkrcc.com, or at the St. Mark Hall Mondays from 9-11 AM. Tickets will also be available at weekend Masses the week before the event.
Proceeds will go to retire our mortgage.
Music and Prayer Meeting will be led by Charlie Cimmino and Roger Grenier
During the first centuries, all the lessons in the liturgy,
including the Epistle and Gospel, were read by the lector.
As time passed, the position of lector was diminished. The
deacon obtained the office of reading the Gospel, and the reading
of the Epistle became the privilege of the subdeacon, and
later, the Priests.
Today, we have readers who are members of the laity of the
church and they are given the privilege to read the readings that
precede the Gospel.
On April 15, 2012, Charlie Cimmino was installed as a lector
during the Ceremony of Rite of Lector by Bishop John Noonan at Mary Mother of God Chapel, San Pedro Retreat Center in Winter
Park. This is Charlie’s second rite in becoming a deacon. His first rite was the Rite of Candidacy, and now the Rite of Lector, and
then the third rite, the Rite of Acolyte will be scheduled for the fall of this year, all prior to his ordination which is tentatively
scheduled for June 8, 2013.
