This week is Catholic Schools Week and there will be a second collection at weekend Masses (February 4-5) to assist our Catholic Schools, including Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala, which is our most local Catholic High School. St. Mark clergy make themselves available to minister to the students at Trinity Catholic and it is great to see the effect a healthy education has on our young men and women. More than 97-percent of Trinity Catholic High School students are accepted and advance to various colleges and universities across the country. This far surpasses the average of 63-percent for both Florida and the entire US. Thank you for assisting Catholic education!.
Since Palm Sunday, 2022, the Diocese of Orlando has restored the obligation to attend Sunday Mass and other holy days of obligation in person. With this in mind, it is important for all Catholics to know that those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin. If you are sick or physically unable to attend Mass the obligation does not apply. For those who have been away from attending Mass in person at St. Mark, please return home to your parish. We miss you and look forward to worshipping with you again. It is also important to know that viewing a televised or online Mass does not fulfill ones obligation. We ask that you please let your friends and neighbors know this and perhaps you may invite them to join you this Sunday.
There will be the annual Blessing of Throats, through the intercession of St. Blaise, at this weekend's Masses (Feb. 4-5). St. Blaise is patron for those suffering from diseases of the throat.
