It will be OK for Catholics to enjoy Corned Beef & Cabbage this St. Patrick's Day here in the Diocese of Orlando. Bishop John Noonan announced earlier this month that he is granting a dispensation on the Lenten rule of abstaining from eating meat on this March 17, 2023, which is the Feast of St. Patrick. Bishop Noonan stated he was asked about a dispensation from eating meat as this year St. Patrick's Day falls on a Lenten Friday. After some reflection, Bishop Noonan agreed that celebrating St. Patrick's Day does warrant a celebration. You can read the bishop's official statement at Orlando Diocese.org. The dispensation extends to those visiting the Diocese of Orlando as well as those who reside here.
