In response to the health concerns, as of March 9 and until further notice, St. Mark the Evangelist will take the following precautionary measures:
Distribution of the Precious Blood is temporarily suspended.
All the parishioners are strongly urged to receive Communion in the hand only. This is for the protection of the person ministering Communion as well as subsequent communicants. Please remember that the Lord looks into our hearts first. Receiving the Body of the Lord in the hand is the ancient practice of the Church.
We ask that all parishioners offer the Peace of Christ, through your lips, “Peace be with you,” and a bow of supplication, instead of shaking hands.
If you are sick, or experiencing symptoms of sickness, you are not obliged to attend Mass, and are encouraged to stay home. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is broadcast on several television channels or on the internet; a person can make a "spiritual communion" until good health returns.
Please read my complete letter to the parish which can be found on page 5 of
the March 15 bulletin.
