Join Our Sacristans Ministry

The duties of the Sacristan are varied and diverse. They prepare the Altar for the Celebrant of the Mass, as well as set up for other Liturgical services. The set-up for Mass includes choosing the correct chalice for the Celebrant, the correct number of ciboria for the Hosts, the correct goblets for the Precious Blood, the appropriate cloths, and additional items for Baptisms, Weddings, and Benediction. At the conclusion of the Celebration, the Sacristan takes care of cleaning the vessels used during the Mass. Any members handling monies are required to complete the online Diocese Safe Environment Training and be fingerprinted.

The Sacristans are also responsible for the four votive stands in the church…making sure all used candles are removed and replaced with new candles. Their other duties include cleaning and changing the Holy Water in all the fonts in the thru May, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
